#43: Positive thinking with Tia Graham

Positive thinking with Tia Graham: Episode Notes

In this episode of the Stepsero podcast we discuss positive psychology and happiness at work with Tia Graham.

Tia has helped numerous organizations by increasing employee happiness and morale, and has provided many leaders with tools and strategies based on the science of happiness and neuroscience.

Here are a few takeaways from our chat:

  • Simply put, Positivity is about focus. People who are affected by a negative event can react very differently based on what they decide to focus on.

  • For positive thinking to work effectively, focus needs to be followed by action. While you are going to attract a lot more positive energy by focusing on positive thoughts, you will eventually need to put in the right amount of effort in order to improve your situation.

  • Our genetics and our life circumstances affect our way of thinking, but that is not all of it. Our daily choices, in fact, might make a greater difference than we think, including rewiring our brains for the better. Exercising, eating healthy food, sleeping a reasonable amount of hours, among many other things, are only one choice away.

  • Happiness is a personal journey and we don’t all start on an equal level. However, anyone can increase their happiness. For Tia, happiness comes from helping others and limiting their suffering.
